Huckleberry Hound • Tiddlywinks Games

The Huckleberry Hound and related characters appeared in television cartoons produced by the Hanna-Barbera company, which was formed in 1957. The Huckleberry Hound Show cartoon television series was shown on American television from 1958 to 1961, and shown in repeats for many years thereafter.

Like many other cartoon characters, Huckleberry Hound was licensed for use in a wide range of games and other products including several tiddlywinks games.

Chad Valley came out with the T.V.’s Huckleberry Hound Tiddlywinks game. This Chad Valley game was made in the UK and was targeted to the UK market.

The characters shown on the cover of this game are Boo-Boo the bear (at upper left), Huckleberry Hound (at upper center), Yogi Bear (at right center), plus two mice, Pixie and Dixie, and also the cat, Mr. Jinks (at lower right). The game target adds Pixie and Dixie (the mice) and two American Indian children.

In the late 1950s, Milton Bradley Company came out with quite a slew of tiddlywinks games depicting cartoon characters. Here’s one, HUCKLEBERRY HOUND Tiddledy Winks Tennis, which debuted with a copyright in 1959. Plus, it was priced at 59 cents when it came out way back when.
